A SKU check for your Amazon listing file

What it checks

You upload your listing file as CSV or XLSX, with up to 50,000 SKU rows per job. The tool finds the SKU column by its header in the first row. If there is no SKU header, the job says so instead of guessing a column. It then looks for two problems only: missing SKU values and duplicates. Duplicates are matched regardless of letter case, so SKU-001 and sku-001 count as the same.

What you download

You get validated.csv, findings.csv and manifest.json. findings.csv lists each missing or duplicate SKU with its row number. validated.csv is a checked copy of your file in which cells starting with an equals, plus, minus or at sign are neutralised. That stops a spreadsheet from running them as formulas when you open the file. The manifest records a fingerprint of your source, so you can match the report to the file.

What stays outside the check

There are no settings to choose. The tool only reports what is in your file. A passed result does not mean Amazon will accept the listing. Category template rules, required attributes and marketplace validation are not checked, and category templates differ from one another. Treat the result as one step before the upload. Everything beyond missing and duplicate SKUs still has to pass Amazon's own validation.

Questions before you run it

How does it find the SKU column in my file?

The column is located by header name in the first row of the CSV or XLSX sheet. If no SKU header is present the job says so instead of guessing a column.

Does it treat SKU-001 and sku-001 as the same value?

Yes. Duplicate detection is case-insensitive, so values that differ only in letter case are grouped as a duplicate pair in findings.csv.

Why is the checked copy described as formula-safe?

Cell values that begin with an equals, plus, minus or at sign are neutralised in validated.csv, so a spreadsheet does not execute them when the file is opened.

Does a passed result mean Amazon will accept the listing file?

No. The check covers missing and duplicate SKU values only. Category template rules, required attributes and marketplace validation sit outside its scope, and no template certification is claimed.

Can it handle a full catalogue export?

Up to 50,000 SKU rows per job, from CSV or XLSX. Anything larger has to be split before upload.
