Interactive synthetic PDF
See how a target changes the decision.
Choose a common portal limit and see the decision for every PDF. The prepared example distinguishes feature-preserving compression from an explicit image-only fallback.
Controlled server workflow
From checked input to an inspectable PDF package
- Step 1.Add one or more PDFs and inspect their real page counts and sizes.
- Step 2.Choose the maximum size for each PDF in KB or MB.
- Step 3.Keep document features, or explicitly allow an image-only fallback for a smaller result.
- Step 4.Review exact before-and-after bytes, method and feature impact before downloading the verified ZIP.
What the worker guarantees
Clear result boundary
A successful result is reopened, page-count checked and verified at or below the exact per-file limit. The ZIP documents original bytes, output bytes, reduction, method and SHA-256 hash.
PDF questions
Target Size PDF Compressor FAQ
Specific answers about output behaviour, limits and deletion.
Will the result always be below my target?
A file is successful only when its final byte size is at or below the confirmed target. Otherwise it is marked Needs adjustment.
Does compression turn every page into an image?
No. The worker first tries structure and content-stream compression. Rasterization is used only when you explicitly allow it and the first method is not enough.
Can rasterization change the document?
Yes. It preserves the visible page but can remove selectable text, links, forms, tags and other interactive PDF features. The option is therefore off by default.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
No. Encrypted or password-protected files are rejected before a job is accepted.
What is included in the result?
The ZIP contains every successful PDF, an accessible HTML report, a formula-safe CSV and JSON manifests with exact byte counts, method details and output hashes.
Are signed PDFs supported?
No. Rewriting a signed PDF invalidates its digital signature, so signed files are rejected during upload before a job is counted.
How long is the compressed result available?
The ZIP is available for 24 hours, then access returns HTTP 410 and physical cleanup follows.
Does WoluTools guarantee print quality?
No. Quality depends on the source and target. The result shows whether rasterization was used so you can inspect it before relying on it.
