Target Size Image Compressor

Compress JPEG to 100 KB

Set 100 KB, or any size from 10 KB to 10 MB. The tool picks the highest JPEG quality that stays under your limit and keeps the pixel dimensions unless you allow resizing.

How it works

Compress a JPEG to 100 KB in three steps

  1. Add your images.A free job takes 1 image up to 5 MB. Pro takes up to 20 images of 10 MB each. Every file is checked for type, dimensions, animation and damage.
  2. Set the target, for example 100 KB.Any value from 10 KB to 10 MB works. Then select an output format and decide explicitly whether resizing is allowed.
  3. Review every result.See original and output bytes, quality, dimensions and savings, then download successful files in one ZIP.

When a target cannot be reached

With resizing off, the file is marked Needs adjustment instead of silently changing dimensions. With resizing on, the worker reduces dimensions in controlled steps and repeats the quality search, but never below a 320-pixel longest side.

Format and transparency rules

WebPTarget-size or quality mode; transparency remains available
AVIFTarget-size or quality mode; transparency remains available
PNGLossless optimisation in quality mode; no misleading target-size guarantee

Compression questions

Target-size compressor FAQ

Exact answers about byte limits, dimensions, PNG and transparency.

How does target-size compression work?

The worker searches for the highest available quality between 40 and 92 that does not exceed the selected byte limit.

Can it compress an image to exactly 100 KB?

The result may be smaller than 100 KB, but a successful target-size result never exceeds the selected limit.

Are image dimensions changed?

Not by default. If quality alone is not enough, the result is marked Needs adjustment unless the user explicitly allows resizing.

How far can an image be resized?

When resizing is enabled, dimensions are reduced in controlled steps and the longest side never goes below 320 pixels.

Why is PNG different?

PNG optimisation is lossless and cannot reliably meet an arbitrary target size. PNG is therefore available in Quality mode without a target-size promise.

Is transparency preserved?

Transparency remains available in PNG, WebP and AVIF. JPEG needs a confirmed background colour because JPEG has no transparency channel.

Which formats are accepted?

The tool accepts static JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images up to the documented image, pixel and batch limits.

Is image metadata removed?

Yes by default. EXIF orientation is applied first, then GPS and camera metadata are removed from the generated output.

What can I do for free?

3 free jobs a day without an account, each with 1 image up to 5 MB. Pro allows up to 200 jobs a day with up to 20 images of 10 MB each. The sample image demo is always free.
