Build a 13-week cash flow forecast from dated payments
Upload a CSV of dated inflows and outflows. You get net cash flow and closing cash for each of the next 13 weeks, and every week that falls below your low-cash threshold is flagged.

Closing cash is the Cumulative change column of result.csv. It equals closing cash here because the template carries the opening balance as its first row in the window, so week 1 also includes those 18,000.

- 1
Fill the template
One row per expected payment: date, amount, in or out. Put your opening bank balance in as the first row.
- 2
Set two values
Choose the forecast start date and the low-cash threshold, the lowest balance you want to keep.
- 3
Check and download
Look over the weekly table and the flagged weeks, then download result.csv and the other files.
How the 13-week forecast works
Columns in your CSV
- DateWritten as YYYY-MM-DD, for example 2026-10-05. A column named due_date also works.
- AmountThe payment as a number. The sign is ignored; Type sets the direction. A column named cash_flow also works.
- Typein or out. A value containing out, expense or payment counts as money going out; anything else counts as money coming in. A column named direction also works.
- Other columnsAllowed, such as a description. They are not used in the calculation.
Up to 100,000 rows per file. Each row falls into the week that contains its date, counted from the start date you choose. Rows dated before or after the 13 weeks are not dropped: they go to excluded-rows.csv and are listed in findings.csv.
Opening balance
The tool has no separate field for it and never invents one. Add your current bank balance as a row dated on the start date with Type in (use out for an overdraft). The Cumulative change column in result.csv then shows closing cash for each week, and the low-cash threshold works as a floor for your balance. The CSV template already has this row. If you leave it out, the column shows only the change since the start date.
Reading the result
A flagged week is one to look at more closely. It does not predict insolvency. Each run is one base case built from the rows you supplied, so to compare a better and a worse case you edit the CSV and run it again. This is a planning aid, not financial advice.
Questions before you run it
Is there a CSV template?
Yes. Use the Download CSV template link next to Choose spreadsheet. It has Date, Amount, Type and Description columns, an opening-balance row and 28 fictional payments, and with start date 2026-10-05 and threshold 7,000 it gives the sample result shown on this page.
Do I need to supply an opening cash balance?
Yes, if you want closing cash rather than change. Add your bank balance as a row dated on the forecast start date with Type in. The Cumulative change column then shows closing cash each week. The CSV template already includes this row.
What happens to rows dated outside the 13 weeks?
They stay out of the weekly buckets and go to excluded-rows.csv with their dates, so an item posted a day before the window is visible instead of lost.
How are the 13 weeks bucketed?
Weeks run from the forecast start date you choose, and each dated row falls into the week that contains it. Moving the start date changes which rows land in week one.
What does the low-cash threshold flag?
Any week whose cumulative figure falls below the threshold you set is marked Yes in result.csv and listed in findings.csv. With the opening balance included as a row, that is a week whose closing cash is below your floor. It marks weeks worth examining and does not predict insolvency.
Can I model a best case and a worst case in one run?
Not in one run. The output is a single base case built from the rows you supplied. To compare scenarios, adjust the source CSV, run it again and compare the result files.
