Inventory a client folder and find duplicate files
What you upload
You upload the client's files as a ZIP, or a file list as CSV or XLSX, with up to 1,000 files per job. There are no options to set. The tool records only facts present in what you supplied, such as the path, type and size of each file. Your upload is never rewritten. It is meant for the first look at a new client delivery.
The inventory, findings and copied ZIP
file-inventory.csv lists every file. Duplicates are found by content, not by name, so two copies of the same scan match even when one is called final-v3. findings.csv flags duplicates and junk such as thumbnail caches and hidden system files that Mac archives carry. organized-source.zip is an unchanged copy of what arrived. manifest.json records a fingerprint of each file, so the copy can be checked against the source.
What the inventory does not tell you
The inventory records what arrived. It does not say whether the client sent everything you asked for, or whether a document is complete in substance. Compare the paths against your own checklist and chase missing items yourself. The tool does not scan for malware or validate signatures, so run your own checks before files enter a live matter. It supports your review and does not replace professional judgement.
Questions before you run it
How does it decide that two files are duplicates?
By content hash rather than filename. Two copies of the same scan count as duplicates even when one is called final-v3 and the other carries the client name.
What counts as a junk file?
Operating-system debris that travels inside archives, such as thumbnail caches and resource-fork entries. They are flagged so you can tell them apart from the material the client meant to send.
Does it tell me whether the client sent everything?
No. The inventory records what arrived, not whether your engagement checklist is satisfied. Compare the paths against your own list and chase missing items separately.
What is in organized-source.zip?
A copied archive of the files that came in, left unmodified. The upload you supplied is never rewritten, so the copy and the inventory can both be passed on.
Does it scan for malware or validate signatures?
No. This is a file inventory. Virus scanning and signature validation stay with your own tooling before the files enter a live matter.
