One audio master, several delivery formats

What you upload

You upload one audio file in WAV, FLAC, MP3, M4A or OGG, up to 30 minutes long. You choose the formats you need and the tags to write. Only metadata you supply goes into the tags. Nothing is guessed from the file name or the audio, so a missing artist stays missing. Every output file carries the same tags.

What you get back

You get a ZIP with the audio files, a tag table and a manifest that records how each file was converted. The tag table shows what was written to each file. The M4A uses 192 kbit/s AAC and the MP3 uses variable quality encoding. Duration and peak levels are measured after conversion and recorded per file. A warning appears when a peak reaches the clipping point. Listen to each file before you send it on.

Settings and lossy sources

You pick the output set: MP3 plus AAC, FLAC plus MP3, or all common formats. The sample rate can stay as it is or change to 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. Channels can stay, or become mono or stereo. If you start from an MP3 or another lossy file, the conversion still runs but is flagged. Nothing made from a lossy source is labelled lossless, so start from a WAV or FLAC master when you have one.

Questions before you run it

Which output formats can I ask for?

MP3 plus AAC, FLAC plus MP3, or the wider common set. The M4A variant uses 192 kbit/s AAC and the MP3 uses variable quality encoding.

Will it invent tags from the file name or the audio?

No. Only metadata you supply is written to the output tags, so a missing artist stays missing rather than being guessed.

What happens if I start from an MP3 rather than a WAV?

The conversion runs, but a lossy source re-encoded to another lossy format is flagged as exactly that. Nothing produced from a lossy source is described as lossless.

How do I know the conversion did not clip?

Duration and peak levels are measured after conversion and recorded per variant, with a warning when a peak reaches the clipping point.

How long can the source audio be?

Up to 30 minutes per job, from WAV, FLAC, MP3, M4A or OGG.
