Find mixed styles and spellings in a Word document
Upload a DOCX and your house style
You upload a DOCX of up to 2,000 words, within a 64,000 character limit. You can add a house-style CSV with your own terms. The audit looks at heading and style use, list formatting, label wording, abbreviations and capitalization. Longer manuscripts work better split by chapter, so the findings stay readable. This is an AI tool, so it needs an account and costs 2 credits per job, shown before you start.
Every finding points to a paragraph
You download a review workbook, a findings CSV, an evidence HTML file and an editable DOCX of the findings. Each finding names the paragraph ID it came from, as in the sample where colour appears in p-18 and color in p-31. Check each one in your document and decide whether to change it. Your original file is never rewritten, so every edit stays one you make yourself in Word.
Language variant and your own rules
The language variant setting offers English (UK), English (US) and German. With a variant chosen, a pair like colour and color reads as a clash, not a free choice. Findings keep structural errors apart from preferences. A heading set with direct formatting instead of a heading style is structural. A spelling variant is a preference unless your house-style file rules on it. Which preferences to enforce stays your editorial decision.
Questions before you run it
What kinds of inconsistency does the audit surface?
Style and heading use, list formatting, label wording, abbreviations and capitalization patterns in the extracted Word structure. Every finding names the paragraph ID it came from.
Does it edit my document?
No, the source is never rewritten. You receive a review workbook, a findings CSV, an evidence HTML file and an editable DOCX of the findings, so each change stays a decision you make in Word.
How do I make it follow our own terminology?
Upload a house-style CSV beside the DOCX. The language variant control matters too: with English (UK), English (US) or German chosen, a colour and color pair reads as a variant clash rather than a free choice.
How do I tell a real error from a preference?
Findings keep the two apart. A heading set with direct formatting instead of a heading style is structural; a spelling variant is a preference unless your house-style file rules on it.
How much text can one run cover?
Up to 2,000 words of DOCX, inside a 64,000 character extraction ceiling. Longer manuscripts are better split by chapter so the paragraph evidence stays readable.
