Rewriting a text for a different reading level
Your text goes in
You upload a TXT or DOCX file with up to 250 words, with a hard cap of 64,000 extracted characters. You pick a target level of A2, B1, B2 or C1 on the Common European Framework scale. The whole passage is rewritten at that level. It is not shortened or summarised, so meaning your source supported should still be in the draft. A longer file is rejected before the job starts. The job costs 1 AI credit and needs an account.
The adapted DOCX and the sentence comparison
You get the adapted text as a DOCX file, a sentence-alignment workbook and a list of warnings. The workbook pairs each source sentence with the sentence or sentences that replaced it. That lets you spot-check the rewrite without reading both documents end to end. The warnings mark places where the meaning may have shifted, so start there. Your original file stays unchanged.
Protected terms and the teacher's check
Enter names, figures or key terms in the terms to keep unchanged field. Numbers, dates and named entities are carried through as written, and the workbook shows where each protected item ended up. The target level is a writing goal for the draft, not a measured score of the finished text. A teacher still needs to check that the facts survived the rewrite before the text goes to students.
Questions before you run it
Which reading levels can I target?
The target level control offers A2, B1, B2 and C1 on the Common European Framework scale. That level is a writing target for the draft, not a measured score of the finished text.
How do I stop names, figures or key terms from being reworded?
Enter them in the terms to keep unchanged field. Numbers, dates and named entities are carried through as written, and the alignment workbook shows where each protected item ended up.
Does the adapter shorten or summarise my text?
No. It rewrites the whole passage at the requested level rather than cutting it down, so meaning that the source supported should still be present in the draft.
What is the sentence-alignment workbook for?
It pairs each source sentence with the sentence or sentences that replaced it. A teacher can then spot-check a rewrite without reading both documents end to end.
How long can the source text be?
Up to 250 words per run from a TXT or DOCX file, with a hard cap of 64,000 extracted characters.
