Checking handles and titles before a Shopify import
What you upload and what gets checked
You upload a Shopify product CSV with up to 100,000 rows. The tool checks that the Handle and Title columns exist and that every row has a value in both. Duplicate handles are found without regard to case, so Blue-Shirt and blue-shirt count as the same handle. Other Shopify columns are read and carried through, but they are not checked. A file over the row limit is rejected before processing, not cut off halfway.
What you get back
The download has three files. findings.csv lists each problem with its row number, so you can go straight to the line in your spreadsheet. validated.csv is a separate copy of your data in which cells that start like a formula are written so they stay text in Excel or Sheets. manifest.json is a short record of which file was read and what was produced. Your original CSV is never modified.
What stays your job
There are no settings to pick. The tool reports problems but does not repair them, so you fix missing handles, empty titles and duplicates yourself before you import. It is not a full Shopify import check, and it does not test every rule Shopify applies. A clean result here means the handle and title columns look right. Shopify can still reject the file for reasons outside that scope.
Questions before you run it
Which columns does the preflight require?
It checks that the Handle and Title columns exist and that every row carries a value for both. Other Shopify columns are read and carried through, but they are not validated against the Shopify schema.
Does it treat Handle values as case sensitive?
No. Duplicate detection folds case, so Blue-Shirt and blue-shirt are reported as the same handle. Each duplicate is listed with its row number in findings.csv.
What does a formula-safe validated copy mean?
Cell values that begin with a character a spreadsheet would read as the start of a formula are written so they stay text. A product title or handle then cannot be executed when the file is opened in Excel or Sheets.
Will it repair problems in my product file?
No. The original is never modified and validated.csv is a separate copy. You apply the corrections yourself before importing into Shopify.
How large a product export can I check?
Up to 100,000 rows of CSV. A larger file is rejected before processing rather than being cut off part way through.
