Court bundle · several PDFs · 3 steps
Build a court bundle from several PDFs
Combine the documents in order, number the pages across the bundle, then bookmark it and export a page index. Each step is one job: download its result and add it to the next step.
Combine and order

Documents already in the right order? Skip step 1: step 2 combines and numbers them in one job.
Steps 1 and 2 · three PDFs, one numbered file
- witness-statement.pdfpp. 1–12
- expert-report.pdfpp. 13–31
- correspondence.pdfpp. 32–48
hearing-bundle.pdf48 pages · numbered 1 to 48
After step 3 · download package
| Source | First page | Last page |
|---|---|---|
| hearing-bundle.pdf | 1 | 48 |
- court-bundle.pdf · page-by-page copy with the bookmark, reopened before delivery
- bundle-index.csv · first and last page, taken from the written file
- manifest.json · description of the package
Step 3 adds one bookmark per job, named after the file you add. The ranges of the single documents come from the source map in step 1.
What step 3 does and what it leaves to you
It does
- Copy every page of one PDF into court-bundle.pdf
- Add one bookmark named after the source file
- Reopen the written file and report a failure if it will not open
- Write bundle-index.csv with the first and last page
- Take up to 2,000 pages per job (free: 50 pages, 10 MB)
It does not
- Merge several PDFs (steps 1 and 2 do that)
- Add one bookmark per document
- Insert divider pages or an index page inside the PDF
- Check a court's filing rules or claim acceptance by any court
An encrypted or damaged PDF stops the job with an error. Before filing, open the bookmark, check the page range and review the bundle against the rules of your court.
Questions before you run it
Can it merge several PDFs into one bundle?
Yes, in steps 1 and 2. The PDF Page Organizer places pages from up to 20 PDFs into one file, and Add Page Numbers to PDF can combine PDFs in upload order and number them as one sequence. Both allow up to 300 output pages per job with Pro; their free tiers take one PDF per job. Step 3, this tool, takes exactly one PDF. A bundle over 300 pages has to be combined in several jobs or with other software.
How many jobs does one bundle use?
One per step: three jobs, or two if step 2 combines and numbers the files. The free allowance is 3 jobs a day; Pro allows up to 200 jobs a day.
What is in bundle-index.csv?
The name of the source file with its first and last page in the output PDF. The numbers are taken from the written file's page count; the file is then reopened to confirm it opens.
Does the bundle satisfy a particular court's filing rules?
No. The checks are mechanical: copy, bookmark, reopen and index. Divider pages and jurisdiction-specific formatting are not applied, and no acceptance by any court is claimed.
What happens with an encrypted or damaged source PDF?
The job stops with an error instead of producing a result. The output is reopened before delivery, so a file that will not reopen is returned as a failure rather than handed over.
How large a PDF can step 3 take?
Up to 2,000 pages. A larger PDF is rejected rather than cut short. Free jobs take one PDF with up to 50 pages and 10 MB.
Do I need an account?
Step 3 needs a free account, which includes 3 free jobs a day. Steps 1 and 2 also run as a guest, before you sign in. Pro allows up to 200 jobs a day for €12.99 a month or €89.99 a year.
