Interactive synthetic PDF
Confirm a traceable sequence before applying it.
Change the prefix, suffix, page range, start number, digit count and position. Every synthetic page and the production-index preview use the same deterministic sequence.
How it works
Four steps from your PDFs to a numbered set
- Step 1.Add the PDFs, check their page counts and move them into production order.
- Step 2.Set the first and last PDF page, prefix, suffix, start number and a digit width from 3 to 15.
- Step 3.Check the first label on the real source page, then confirm font, style, colour, opacity, position and margin.
- Step 4.Download one ZIP with the numbered PDF and its records.
What you get
- Numbered PDFYour files merged in the order you set, with one continuous Bates sequence across the confirmed page range.
- CSV production indexEvery output page and label mapped to its source file and source page. Values are protected against spreadsheet formulas.
- HTML reportAn accessible version of the same index for reading or printing.
- JSON manifestSHA-256 hashes of every input file and the output, in order.
Before download, the output is reopened and checked for page count, visible labels, continuity and duplicates. If a number would need more digits than you chose, the job stops instead of widening the label. The tool numbers pages; it does not decide whether a court or discovery protocol accepts the numbering.

Bates Number PDF FAQ
Output, limits and deletion.
What is Bates numbering?
It is a consecutive page-label sequence commonly used to identify pages across a document set. This tool applies and records the confirmed sequence.
Can I choose the prefix and starting number?
Yes. Prefix, suffix, starting number and a digit count from 3 to 15 are confirmed before processing.
Can I reorder files and label only part of the merged PDF?
Yes. Move uploaded files into production order, then set the first and last physical PDF page. The sequence applies only inside that confirmed range.
Does the sequence continue across several PDFs?
Yes. Uploaded PDFs are combined in the order shown and receive one continuous sequence across file boundaries.
Can I preview placement on the actual document?
Yes. The protected workspace shows the exact first label over the real selected source page before you confirm the job.
Is a production index included?
Yes. Formula-safe CSV, accessible HTML and versioned JSON map every output page and Bates label to its source file and source page, with SHA-256 hashes.
Does this guarantee court acceptance?
No. The tool applies a reproducible sequence and provides records, but it does not provide legal advice or guarantee evidentiary acceptance.
What are the limits?
Free: 3 jobs a day, up to 3 PDFs, 10 MB each and 50 pages per job, no account needed. Pro (€12.99/month): up to 200 jobs a day, 20 PDFs, 50 MB each and 300 pages per job, with at most 150 pages per file.
When are the documents deleted?
Originals are removed immediately after processing and the result ZIP expires after 24 hours.
