Calculating flat-rate commission for each sales rep

What the deals file needs

Each row carries its own commission rate, and that rate is applied exactly as supplied. A rate above 1 is read as a percent, so 8 means 8%; a rate of 0.08 also means 8%. Tiers, split credit, caps and clawbacks are not worked out for you, so build them into the rate column before you upload. Every deal ID may appear only once: a duplicate stops the run before any payout file is made.

Tracing a rep total back to its deals

result.csv lists the commission for every deal, and every figure in rep-statements.csv adds up from those rows. manifest.json records the settings you used, including the rounding choice, so a colleague can see how the numbers were produced. Your source file is not changed, and results are kept for 24 hours.

Rounding, currency and the approval step

On a large file, rounding per deal and rounding on the statement total can differ at cent level, which is why the choice is recorded. The payout file is a draft calculation. It needs payroll or contract approval before anyone is paid, and that approval stays with your finance team.

Questions before you run it

Which columns does the CSV need?

One row per deal with a rep, a deal ID, an amount and a rate. The headers Rep (or Sales rep), Deal (or Deal ID), Amount (or Revenue) and Rate (or Commission rate) are recognised. A rate above 1 is read as a percent, so 8 and 0.08 both mean 8%.

Does it handle tiered rates, splits, caps or clawbacks?

No. Each deal row carries its own rate and that rate is applied exactly as supplied. Work tiers, split credit, caps and clawbacks into the rate column before uploading.

Where does rounding happen?

You choose: once per deal, or once on the statement total. On a large set the two settings differ at cent level, and the setting used is recorded in manifest.json.

What does the draft payout file contain?

Per-rep amounts in the statement currency you set, laid out for hand-off. It stays a draft calculation and needs payroll or contract approval before anyone is paid.

How do I check a single rep figure?

result.csv holds the per-deal ledger, so every total in rep-statements.csv can be traced back to the deal rows that produced it.

How many deal rows can one file hold?

Up to 50,000 deals in a single CSV upload.

Do I need an account?

Not for the quick check at the top of this page, which runs in your browser. The CSV statement run needs a free account and uses one of your 3 free jobs a day. Failed jobs are not counted.
